Introduction
Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS)/Rapti Eye Hospital and Nepal Association of Blind (NAB)/Rehabilitation program were involved in community based rehabilitation program in 1998 to 2004 with the financial support of NABP-Norway. NAB/Rehabilitation program had conducted door to door survey for 453351 population in 73885 household and found total 5073 curable and incurable blind. NNJS, Rapti Eye Hospital did the surgery for curable blind (3352 blind) and rehabilitated them by restoring new vision. Incurable blind patients were rehabilitated by NAB/Rehabilitation program by conducting various training i.e. mobility training, income generating training, school education, advocacy work, etc. NAB/Rehabilitation program was phase out from Dang in last of 2004 and handed over to Dang Association of Blind (DAB). Dang Association of Blind has build training building at Lamahi with the financial support of different donor and land was donated by local authorities (Town Development Committee). At present DAB is working in the favor of disabilities (blind patient). They have long experience with income generating training, advocacy and free school education with the support of local authorities.
Objective
NNJS/Rapti Eye Hospital and DAB will cooperate and coordinate rehabilitation program of visually impaired. The program will serve both curable and incurable blind with the objective of catering optimum eye care and rehabilitation service to them”
