Ophthalmic Assistant Training (PCL in Ophthalmic Science)

Three year PCL in Ophthalmic Science  (OA Training) has been started jointly with  Rapti Eye Hospital, Tulsipur, Dang and Rapti Technical School (CTEVT), Lalmatiya from 2016. There are 40 students in one batch. The duration of PCL Ophthalmic science program is three years. First year, basic science program will be managed by Rapti Technical School (CTEVT) at  Lalmatiya, Dang and Second and third year program will be managed by Rapti Eye Hospital at Rakshyachaur, Tulsipur, Dang.

About the Ophthalmic Assistant

Ophthalmic assistant perform various investigation, perform eye examination, diagnose and treat most of ocular disorders, perform refraction and prescribe eye glasses and contact lenses, assist the ophthalmologist in various types of ocular surgeries and other sophisticated procedures, perform minor extra ocular surgeries, provide eye health education and counseling, conduct school screening, manage eye camp and screening camp.  The graduates in PCL Ophthalmic Science is eligible for registration with NHPC (Nepal Health Professional Council) as per the Act of Council. They are also eligible to pursue their higher education in the field of related subjects. They are eligible to get the position Non-Officer 1st Level(technical) in eye hospitals/PECC and other health institutions.

Yearly Intake: 40 Seats for each training centre
Course Duration: 3 academic years.
Eligibility for application SEE pass having at least (2 GPA and must be C Grade in English, Mathematics and Science) or equivalent.
Note: The quotas for scholarship, sponsorship, entrance examination and selection criteria are as per the provision of the CTEVT rules and regulation.
